Copyright and DMCA
Effective October 29, 2026. Last updated October 29, 2026.
SiteLocals hosts pages that users create, generate, and import. We respect the copyright of others and respond to clear notices of alleged infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). This page explains how to reach us and what happens next.
Sending a takedown notice
If you believe content on SiteLocals infringes your copyright, send a notice that includes:
- Your full name and contact information.
- A description of the copyrighted work you say was infringed.
- The exact address (URL) of the content on SiteLocals, so we can find it.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by you, your agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Send notices to SiteLocals at hello@sitelocals.com. Notices that lack the items above may not be actionable, and incomplete notices slow everything down.
What happens next
When a valid notice arrives, we review it and, where the claim is supported, remove or disable access to the content promptly. We notify the user who posted the content and give them the chance to respond with a counter-notice.
Counter-notices
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you have the right to use the material, you may send a counter-notice with your name and contact information, the URL of the removed content, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if you are outside the United States, the Southern District of New York), plus your signature. If the original complainant does not file a court action within the period the DMCA provides, we may restore the content.
Repeat infringers
Accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright are terminated. A single clear case of wholesale copying can be enough.
A note for SiteLocals users
The import and clone tools copy a website's public layout so a business can move or rebuild its own site. Use them only for sites you own or have written permission to reproduce. Copying a competitor's site, text, or photos is infringement even when the tool makes it easy, and your account carries the risk, as the Terms of Service explain.
